I’m Dreaming of a Right Christmas!

Luke 2:13-18

INTRO: As secular humanism and liberalism grip our country, along with tolerance for paganism and intolerance for Christianity, a right Christmas may become just a dream. What is it that makes a Right Christmas? We all know that without Christ there is not Christmas. The virgin born son of God is the reason that we are here in this service.

A right Christmas is a Christmas focused on a person: that person is Jesus Christ. Christ came to earth born of a virgin, and He lived a perfect life and died as the only perfect sacrifice to satisfy the justice of God. Christ was buried, and He arose the third day.

I want to give you some ideas on how you can have a right Christmas you don’t have to just dream about. It is better to have a right Christmas than to have a White Christmas.

I. THE RIGHT WAY

A. To have a right Christmas, you must know the right way (Acts 4:12).

B. Jesus is the right way. As a matter of fact, He is the only way to have a Biblical and a right Christmas (Jn 14:6, "....I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father but by me.").

C. "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." Proverbs 16:25.

II. THE RIGHT GREETING

A. The greeting of the Angel in Luke 2:10-11 is the greeting you and I need this Christmas.

B. Tell people that a Savior is born. This is not just a Holiday, it is Christmas.

C. Go tell it on the mountain.

III. THE RIGHT SPIRIT

A. Some will get filled with alcoholic spirits and other kinds of spirits this Christmas. A lot of folks talk about Christmas spirit– what is the Christmas spirit?

B. The Spirit of True Peace is what we need and that only comes from knowing Christ as the crucified and risen Lord (Jn 14:27).

1. Singing is a big part of Christmas and Ephesians 5:18-19 tells us that when we are filled with the Holy Spirit we will speak to each other in psalms and hymns, and spiritual songs.

2. May we with spirited hearts sing, "Glory to God in the highest...."

IV. THE RIGHT GIFT

A. For so many today, the right gift is very important. The right gift for me is Jesus. "Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift." II Cor 9:15.

B. God’s gift is the right gift (Jn 3:16; Isa 9:6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given....").

V. THE RIGHT INVITATION FOR YOU TO RECEIVE

A. This is the most important of all invitations (Rev 22:17).

B. Matthew 11:28, "Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

VI. THE RIGHT CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

A. Many people will have a wrong celebration this Christmas.

B. Only Christ is worthy to receive honor and glory and worship (Rev 5:12).

VII. THE RIGHT RESPONSE TO THE GOSPEL

A. How will you respond to the message today?

B. Acts 16:31 says: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved."

CONCLUSION: May you and yours have a right Christmas!
