Deliverance For Burdened People
Exodus 6:1-8
INTRO: When burdens weigh us down, we need to trust in the deliverance of God. Our God is a God of deliverance! He will lead us out of the land of burdens.
There are times when we like Moses cry out, "....neither hast thou delivered thy people at all" (Exodus 5:23). But, oh dear friend, God is a mighty God; He is, "God Almighty." Be patient, wait on the Lord, and He will say to you what He said to Moses: "Now shalt thou see what I will do...." (Exodus 6:1).
In Exodus 6:2, Moses is reminded that God will keep His covenant; He will keep His promises. "I am the Lord."
I. VS 6a, GOD IS MINDFUL OF OUR BURDENS
A. He does see; He does care; and He says: "I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians...."
1. When we are burdened, our God cares and He will bring us out.
2. Sometimes we wonder: "Does Jesus Care?"
Does Jesus care when my heart is pained too deeply for
mirth and song; As the burdens press, and the cares
distress, and the way grows weary and long?
Chorus: Oh, yes, He cares; I know He cares, His heart is
touched with my grief; when the days are weary, the long
nights dreary, I know my Saviour cares.
3. Our God is a caring God, a loving God and He knows about our burdens and pain.
B. Yes, God is mindful of your burdens; He does care. Your burdens are important to Him today.
1. In our time of need, no matter how small or great that need is, God will give His children grace (Heb 4:16).
2. If you are not a child of God, trust His Son Jesus, believe the Gospel and you too can sing with the saints of God:
Days are filled with sorrow and care,
Hearts are lonely and drear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near.
2 Cast your care on Jesus today,
Leave your worry and fear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary
Jesus is very near.
3 Troubled soul, the Saviour can see
Every heartache and tear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near.
Chorus: Burdens are lifted at Calvary, Calvary, Calvary;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary, Jesus is very near.!
II. VS 6b, GOD IS MINDFUL OF OUR BONDAGE
A. "I will rid you of their bondage." The bondage of doubts and fears can be broken by God’s power (II Tim 1:7).
B. Bondage means to be controlled by a person, substance or circumstance.
1. God does not want you to be in bondage to drink, drugs, or depression.
2. What is it that controls you?
3. Turn whatever it is that controls you over to God.
a. Isa 26:3.
b. I Pet 5:7.
III. VS 6c, GOD DESIRES THAT WE HAVE SPIRITUAL FREEDOM
A. God said to Moses: "I will redeem you with a stretched out arm..."
1. How would God redeem them? The same way that He will redeem you.
2. They were redeemed by the blood of the Passover Lamb.
3. We are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ (I Pet 1:18-22).
B. Jesus Christ, God’s Son, came to earth to set us free.
1. We are set free by the Word of God, the truth (Jn 8:32).
2. We are set free by the Holy Spirit (II Cor 3:17).
3. We are set free by the Saviour (Jn 8:36).
IV. VS 7, GOD DESIRES OUR FELLOWSHIP
A. What wonderful words we read here: "I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God....."
1. He wants to walk with us and talk with us and tells us we are His own.
2. God desires sweet fellowship with His people.
B. This verse, Exodus 6:7, speaks of assurance of the presence of God. Believers have that assurance. The scripture says: "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee."
1. Just as God led the children of Israel by the cloud and the fire, day and night, He leads His children today– day and night.
2. He is with us during the good times and the bad. He is the God of the mountain and the God of the valley.
V. VS 8, GOD HAS PROMISED US A GREAT FUTURE
A. "I will bring you into the land," not I might, but I will.
1. God always keeps His promises (Jn 14:1-3).
2. Our inheritance is guaranteed (I Pet 1:4).
B. Be sure that you are bound for the promised land. Make your calling and election sure.
CONCLUSION: Jesus does care; He cared enough to go to Calvary!
