| General Newsletter for April-June 2002 June 11, 2002 |
It's an honor to be able to send greetings and some news your way once more. Thank you to lal that have participated/are participating in our ministry in some way or another.
Working with the human species can be a difficult task — as someone has said, “If it weren’t for people, the world would be a good place!” Recently, we have had more than our share (It seems!) of helping people deal with immorality, drunkenness, drug addiction, marital problems, so-called “schizophrenia” (I say “so-called” because it is usually more a spiritual problem than a mental one.), etc., etc., etc. I commented to Wendy recently that working with people can be “messy” at times. What a blessing to know that our Lord specializes in helping us clean up the messes we make of our lives, to know that he is not afraid to fraternize with us “publicans and sinners”; rather, desires to help us climb out of the holes that we dig for ourselves!
I share these problems with you not because we’re discouraged but simply to let you know some of the events that are occurring in our ministry. Problems are simply a fact of life and should not cripple us but purify us to become more Christ-like. Alongside these difficult situations, the church is experiencing tremendous blessings —Christians are growing and taking on more responsibility, giving generously to the Lord’s work, witnessing to the lost, and discipling newer believers! Last Sunday we had one of the largest (if not the largest) crowd ever, and it was an exciting day being packed like sardines into our meeting place!
Speaking of our meeting place, please pray fervently with us about land. We recently expressed our interest to the local government about buying a piece of land it owns in our area. The Lord willing, I will be meeting soon with the mayor regarding this property. I believe sincerely that, if we had larger facilities, numerical growth could begin “bustin’ wide open”!
In our last letter we mentioned about Wendy’s back trouble. Well, we have good news! In February, Wendy and the children made a trip to the USA to be with her family — her dad had been poisoned somehow and was in extreme danger of losing his kidneys (Thank the Lord, her father has been restored completely and both kidneys are functioning normally.). During her trip, she underwent some intensive chiropractic treatments that helped her enormously. Returning to Chile, she has continued treatments and is almost back to 100% normalcy. We are grateful to those who prayed and to the Lord for His intervention.
As we conclude this letter, we want to tell you once more that it is our privilege to be on the same team with you, seeking to fulfill the responsibility God has entrusted to us. God bless you!
