Raymond, Deborah & Brandy Johnson - Missionaries to American Indians
Prayer Letter - January 2002

Nehemiah 4:6 "So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work." We thank God daily for you all and that you have a mind to work; without your faithfulness to God in his work; all of our work would be impossible."

Wow!!! 2001 flew by so quickly, now the question arises: What shall we do in 2002? Well, the answer for us is easy; everything we didn't finish in 2001! God has been great to us; much better than we deserve. You all know we have all had health problems this past year, but as always God is much bigger than all of our problems and he is helping us to be overcomers. Brandy has learned to control her migraines and stomach problems with diet and exercise and uses very little medications. Deborah has accepted life in a wheelchair, and the doctors have adjusted all her medications pretty well and weekly trips to a Chiropractor have greatly reduced her need for pain pills. I am adjusting to life on a diabetic diet and pills for blood pressure and have almost regained my strength after my gall bladder surgery. God is so good!

March 2002 will mark our eleven-year anniversary on the mission field here in Mississippi. God has blessed yours and our efforts which has resulted in three churches being birthed on three of the seven different reservations here. We praise God for saving five souls and adding new families to His Church here at Standing Pine this past year. We still have two young preachers in the work here at Standing Pine. Pray for God's will in their lives and ministries. Pray for God's continuing direction in our work both here and in Oklahoma.

Our big project which began 11 years ago was to reprint the Choctaw Bible and all doctrinally sound materials which were written in the 1800's as well as to write and print new materials. Pastor Gil Breedlove from North Carolina and my wife Deborah have done all the computer work; and Global Bible Society has helped us with the printing since 1991. We have printed and distributed all of the following: (1) Choctaw New Testament, (2) Choctaw Hymnal, (3) Choctaw Dictionary, (4) Study Courses in Choctaw, (5) A Choctaw Lexicon, (6) Choctaw Music and Cassette tapes, and (7) Choctaw Preaching Tapes.

Currently we are proofreading the Old Testament scriptures and hope to have them ready for print by the end of the year. Brother Shelly Peoples, pastor of the work at Pearl River and Brother Eddie Johnson, pastor of the work at Conehatta, have each taken a week of their time to help us with proofreading and have agreed to continue helping us one evening each week. Others from the work here at Standing Pine are giving of their time to help us with proofreading and have agreed to continue helping us one evening each week. Others from the work here at Standing Pine are giving of their time to proofread as well. Pray for us that God will help us to complete this work for His glory and honor.

We want to close by thanking you all for your faithfulness in prayers, financial support, special offerings, and labor of love both for us personally and for the mission work among the Mississippi Band of Choctaws and the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Thanks to your special offerings the new printer we had to buy is already half paid for!!!

P.S. Before mailing this letter Deborah was admitted into the hospital with congestive heart failure. It has been a very scary few weeks but God has blessed and she is home now and on the road to recovery which means a few months of cardio-pulmonary therapy. Pray for us as we get thru all of this!
May God richly bless you
in all you do in 2002
